The Bride

I am away this week, helping my best friend during these few days leading up to her daughter’s wedding. In light of the joy surrounding this dear bride (whom I’ve watched grow into a lovely young woman) and the bridegroom who loves her, I’m re-posting a previous blog entry. Praying this blesses you, dear friends.

bride

Have you ever thought about how wonderful it would be if someone wrote you a love letter? That may be a little too personal of a question to ask you, but I have to.

Whether you know it or not, someone has. He wrote it to all of us. The amazing thing is that it’s tailored just for me, and it is tailored just for you.

Do you not know that if you love the Lord Jesus, you are the bride of Christ? The bride! That doesn’t mean only corporately (as a group). It means individually. You, my friend, are the beloved. You are His dearest love.

Do you know how He longs for you? Do you know that He thinks of you and waits for you? Do you know that He tirelessly works on your behalf, always for your good?

When He looks at you, He sees His beloved – the one He loves so much, that He gave His life for you. Not because He had to, but because He wanted to.

Part of his love letter to you is found in the Song of Solomon (or Song of Songs). The Bridegroom King (Jesus) paints a picture of what His bride’s life (the church) will be like with Him. This, my friend, is from the Lord Jesus to you, right now:

How beautiful you are, my darling, how beautiful you are! Your eyes are like doves.

Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, and come along.

For behold, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone.

The flowers have already appeared in the land; the time has arrived for pruning the vines,

And the voice of the turtledove has been heard in our land.

The fig tree has ripened its figs, and the vines in blossom have given forth their fragrance.

Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, and come along!

Song of Solomon 1:15 and 2:10-13 NASB

Yes, you are the beloved. You are the bride. You are the lovely, treasured, cherished one of Jesus. You. Right here, right now. No matter what, and for all time.

Come along with Him. Take His hand and follow Him without hesitation into the most beautiful, loving, freeing relationship you could ever have. Leave the cold winter of a life without knowing Him, and allow yourself to fall completely in love with your Bridegroom King Jesus.

I promise you, He is worth more than everything else. I know, because I know Him.
